Extremely Rare Marbled Murrelet Bird Native Art Wood Carving

The marbled murrelet is a small seabird in the Pacific northwest coastal region that is facing endangered status because of overlogging. A customer wanted to get a Northwest native art wood carving of such a bird so Free Spirit Gallery commissioned master carver Cody Mathias to produce one.

We sent Cody some photos of the marbled murrelet and he designed a Northwest Native art version. Although the progress of the project was slow for various reasons, like other custom commissioned art projects, the results were worth waiting for.

The customer will use this unique and one of a kind Northwest Native art wood carving of a marbled murrelet bird as a college graduation gift for her son. The rest of us can see what this wonderful bird wood carving looks like at page 2 of our Custom Designed Native Art pages.
