Canadian native writer Joseph Boyden, who is a Metis, was awarded Canada's highest prize for literary fiction. His book, 'Through Black Spruce', was set in Cree lands of Mushkegowuk in Ontario. The Canadian native people (as well as the rest of us), should be proud of this win as well as be inspired by it. I am glad that more native individuals are excelling which hopefully encourages others in that community to do so as well.
